#2 - Essentials of a K-pop concert ( Part 1)

As a k-pop fan, it is only right for you to attend k-pop concerts and events! However, the preparation needed before the actual event is way more than what you can expect! I've attended a few concerts and the concert that I had enjoyed the most was Super Junior's third asia tour Supershow3!

SuperShow3 was the first K-pop concert that I have attended and I was pretty much overwhelmed by the stage structure and effects, with sprawling LED screens plastered all over the stage

But.

One reason why I had enjoyed the concert so much is because I had the ESSENTIALS.

You might want to follow this checklist before you leave for a K-pop concert!
Actually..its a MUST!

a. Cheering lightsticks
b. Cheering balloons
c. Cheering towels

#CHEERING LIGHTSTICKS:

This is probably the most important item you need to bring. Without a lightstick, it is like if you have forgotten to bring an entrance ticket to a concert.

As shown in the picture above, the lightsticks can be in many different colours. This is when you'll have to know what colour represents your favourite idol group.

Each group has its own representative colour. Eg. Super Junior's official colour is Pearl Sapphire Blue and Girl's Generation's official colour is Pastel rose.
Check out the list of official colours of the groups! [Click here]

#CHEERING BALLOONS:
Never thought of bringing balloons into a concert? Well, it is one special essential that you will have to bring. Just like the lightsticks, the colours of the balloon are based on the official colours of the idol groups.

The names of the fanclubs will also be printed on
the balloons. Check out the different names of the fanclubs[Click here]

#CHEERING TOWELS:
Hand-made fanboards are outdated! Although some k-pop fans still do bring fanboards, most of their fanboards are LED fanboards. Cheering towels are much lighter and easier to be carried around. You can just stuff a small towel like the picture above into your bag!

Here are some pictures of the audience in concerts. Isn't it such a marvellous sight?

and so..
Is that all you need to prepare for a concert?
NO, there are more!
Stay tuned for the next post!

#1 - Intro to fandom: How to be a kpop fan

I want nobody, nobody but you~

Find it familiar? Yes! it is the lyrics from the song 'nobody' by Wonder Girls!
Kpop is now THE TREND of the decade. I became a kpop fan 3 years ago because I was fascinated by the charisma of the kpop idol groups after watching their performances on the music shows.

So, if you are new to the fandom of Kpop, fret not, because I will be giving you a brief introduction to the fandom of Kpop and some tips that might come in handy in future.

Step 1: Listen to lots and lots of Kpop songs.

Step 2:
Keep yourself updated with kpop news. You need to know the latest hottest news, such as knowing which celebrity is dating or which group is releasing a new album.
(Click to go-->)DailyKpopnews & Allkpop are two popular kpop news site.

Step 3: Have some knowledge of korean words.
Words like "o-ppa" to address an older guy(those idol group members), "An-nyong-ha-sae-yo" means hello and "Ot-toh-kae" means how, an expression of anxiety.

Step 4: Collect albums and merchandises of idol groups. As a kpop fan, supporting your favourite idol helps them to get awards eg. Best selling album of the year.

Easy Steps and there you go! You might ask, " Is that all to the fandom of kpop? "
The answer is NO!!!!!!! There are more to come as it is just the beginning.

But trust me, this learning journey of the kpop fandom is going to get more interesting.
